Banned performs for Peter Garrett

In December 2006, one of Sykes Music’s Bands called Banned, played for Peter Garret at a political function held at the Irish Club in Subiaco.

Banned were invited to play as a last minute substitute when a Shenton College band were unable to play. Fortunately, Banned were well rehearsed and easily slipped into their shoes. Apparently they got everyone on their feet dancing.

Peter Garret gave them some words of advice and autographed their guitars. It seems that this group of talented youngsters are going to go somewhere. Since they formed a band, they have performed at a Subiaco Primary School Music Night and then they performed again and won the Talent Quest. They played at the Subiaco Street Party and at the Sykes Music Senior End of Year Concert. They have even started writing their own music.

There are heaps of opportunities to join similar ensembles at Sykes Music. Even if you aren't an enrolled student you can join an ensemble or choir group at Sykes Music, all of which are led by an ensemble coach. Please contact us for more info!

Left to right - Tom Keady, Darcy Hoffman, Peter Garret, Declan Evans, Jake Coulter and Ali Duff
